Shiva ReaGlobal Mala is an event for world peace that weaves together the yoga community of the entire world!  Global Mala is the uniting of millions of yogi’s hearts and deepest wishes for peace on earth for all.  This is prayer in motion, prayer in action!

Inspired by Shiva Rea a few years back, this is an inspiring and connecting event for all yoga practitioners.

A couple years ago I witnessed this event, with my one year old on my hip, at the Staples Center in L.A.  Live music and hundreds of colorful yogis being lead through salutes from great teachers such as Shiva Rea and Sean Corne.  Just last year I partook in the 108 salutes at Equinox Fitness Center in Manhattan Beach, CA where I was an instructor.  There is just something so special about coming together with local community in this blessed light.

What is Global Mala?

The Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project belongs to the global yoga community and is a seed of a world-wide experiment into the power of meditation in action.

The purpose of the Global Mala is to unite the global yoga community from every continent, school or approach to form a “mala around the earth” through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108 at Fall Equinox as the yoga world’s offering to further the UN International Peace Day.

Global Mala on Kauai, 2009

Join us Sunday, September 20, 2009 for Yoga Global Mala here on Kauai. We will gather and begin at 10:30 am (so come a little early) at Anini Beach Park, somewhere just after the boat dock driveway area, and before the campground.  I drive a white Toyota 4-Runner, you may want to look for that too.

Bring a mat, water, maybe sunglasses too :). We will weave our prayers with the rest of the yoga community at large as we flow through 108 (or a variation of) Sun Salutations!  If you need more detailed directions, or if you plan on attending, please call me at 808-351-4958.  And feel free to spread the good word.

BEACH SIDE YOGA FOR WORLD PEACE, THIS WILL BE ROCKIN’!

All donations that come in from this blessing will be donated directly to helping children on Kauai.  So whether you come to place your prayers in action, or to offer monetary offerings out for the benefit of others, come with an open heart and a smile.  We will make a difference!
