apple pie oatsOn colder mornings like we have been having here on Kauai I love me a warm breakfast to help warm me up.

As you can see from my photo I was loving this breakfast so much I almost forgot to get a picture before devouring it all. Each bite so delicious and an epic fuel to begin your day with.

Crispy apples, nutty walnuts, nourishing coconut flakes, cinnamon, maple syrup to taste and one other ingredient you may not have ever considered putting into your oatmeal to add an extra POW of healthy, muscle-making creaminess.

Apple Pie Oatmeal With Egg Scrambled Into The Mix

The ingredient that I added for more muscle-making POWer is an egg! Here is how I prepared this awesome pre-work meal, or nourishing breakfast that will give you sustaining energy until lunch:

  1. I like to soak my oats overnight to remove the phytic acid.
  2. Cook the oats with water in a 1:2 ratio. I use 1/3 cup oats, with 2/3 cup water.
  3. Once the oats are cooked crack an egg right into the mix. Stir it until cooked in. Keep stirring! Don’t let it bake in without you stirring it consistently. OH, and when I wanna reduce my fat and increase even MORE protein I add just the egg white and add 2 egg whites.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Chop us some fresh, crispy green apples (optional) and add them as well as a good amount of cinnamon.
  6. Sprinkle with raw, organic walnuts and shaved coco meat. If keeping fat content low, skip this.
  7. Maple syrup to taste. A dab will do you. Liquid stevia can be a good substitute if you don’t want the additional carbs.

So delicious! And if you have read a previous post of mine, “Not All Eggs And Proteins Are Treated Equal” you would know why I love my eggs! Enjoy.

Protein Oats With Protein Powder

Just one more way I increase the protein of my oats is to stir in a scoop of my favorite protein powder into my cooked oats. Easy and helps pack in the protein. Boom!
