Came up with version today practicing at a friend’s home during one of my breaks before going back to teacher train.

I don’t have stairs like this at home so it was fun getting creative with them here! Maybe u do and this will inspire even more possibilities!

Using the stairs for back bend push ups rocks because you can keep way better alignment in your neck and shoulders this way, and get more range of motion too.  This means you get to build more strength in your upper back, shoulders and arms!

Alignment Tips For Urdhva Danurasana Push-ups

3 Alignment tips to help you rock this:

  • keep your feet parallel (they may wanna turn out)
  • extend wildly from hips through leg bones into the floor (so you create balanced extension and this will feel great in low back too)
  • plug upper arm bones back and press heart towards stairs with strength of upper back (and keep your shoulders happy and your thoracic spine flexible). Just remember to keep extending through your legs as you do!

I did 3 rounds of 10 of these, infusing my body with deep, prana filled breaths as I played.
