I absolutely love this short poem by Hafiz: “Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, ‘you owe me’. Look what happens with a love like that, it lights up the whole sky.” It is such a sweet reminder of the power and beauty of unconditional love.

We used this quote for prenatal yoga today as a recognition of unconditional that a mother has for her baby during meditation.  It seems so fitting doesn’t it?

I also used this inspiration in my other yoga classes this week.  This poem by Hafiz takes us straight to our hearts, and there we can experience and become steeped in the unconditional love we have for our Self and for God.  Likewise, we are reminded of the bright and expansive love of God for us!

This love of Self is not a selfish love, but a love that nurtures and nourishes every aspect of who we are.  A love for the true nature of who we are, a deep respect for the gift of being alive.  When we can become steeped in this appreciation with loving kindness, we can let that love shine out to make this world a more beautiful place for everyone.
